PlusNet Broadband – new broadband packages and variable pricing by location

PlusNet Broadband have introduced variable pricing into two of their three residential broadband packages, based on their local exchange classification. This means that the price of broadband will vary according to location. However around 80% of households are expectd to qualify for the cheapest pricing.

There are three PlusNet broadband packages, all of which have up to 8Mb download speeds. They also all come with a free wireless router.

PlusNet Broadband Value is £5.99 a month for all customers for the first 3 months, then £5.99 a month or £11.99 a month ongoing depending on location. It has a 10GB monthly usage allowance.

PlusNet Broadband Unlimited is £11.99 a month for all customers for the first 3 months, then £15.99 a month or £19.99 a month ongoing depending on location. There is no monthly limit to the amount of data a customer can use, although management is applied to some traffic at certain times of the day.

Would-be customers can find out which ongoing broadband  price would be applicable to them by finding out their exchange classification here – they just enter the details requested, click on their area exchange, and the results page will include a box called Ofcom Classification. Anyone with Market 3 in this box should be eligible for the cheaper PlusNet Broadband prices.

There is a third broadband package from PlusNet, this is PlusNet Broadband Pro, and it is £19.99 a month for all customers. It is aimed at those who need a prioritised internet connection. PlusNet Pro comes with a 15GB monthly usage allowance and free usage between midnight-8am.

There are also broadband and phone bundles available from PlusNet. The broadband element of these PlusNet bundles  is either Value or Unlimited, and so is also subject variable pricing.
